Rob Hann

Rob Hann, a self-taught photographer, was born in Salisbury, England. In 1993 he shot his first commission, a portrait of Lydia Lunch for Lime Lizard magazine, which led to over 900 commissions for many leading magazines, newspapers, and record companies.

Rob’s subjects have included Tom Hanks, David Byrne, Willem Dafoe, Chuck D, Steve Buscemi, Daft Punk, JG Ballard, Chloe Sevigny, Moby, and many more notable celebrities. Currently, seven of Rob’s photographs are in the permanent collection of The National Portrait Gallery in London. In November 2013, Rob had his first solo show at The Christian Larsen Gallery in Stockholm, Sweden. His first solo museum show was held in June 2018, at Nassjo Konsthall in Nassjo, Sweden. Rob’s first book, Diesel Fried Chicken, was published by The Artist Edition in 2018.

In the mid 1970’s, Rob took notice of the mythology of the American road via books, records, and movies. He now drives the USA endlessly, searching to find and photograph the magic existing in spaces between the creeping sprawl of corporate America.

Rob has lived in New York City since 2003 and has focused exclusively on road trip photography since 2010.
