WONKI WARE
Wonki Ware is a South African ceramics studio renowned for its handcrafted dinnerware that embodies the vibrant spirit of Africa. Founded by Di Marshall in the picturesque town of George along the Garden Route, the studio began as a small venture and has since evolved into a globally recognized brand. Each piece of Wonki Ware is meticulously crafted by skilled artisans using locally sourced clay, with every item passing through 14 pairs of hands before completion. The process involves slab-rolling, lace pressing, sun-drying, hand-glazing, and kiln-firing, resulting in unique, organic, and slightly "wonky" designs that add character to any table setting. The brand's commitment to quality and artistry has earned it international acclaim, with features in renowned publications and endorsements from celebrity chefs like Nigella Lawson and Jamie Oliver. Beyond aesthetics, Wonki Ware is dedicated to empowering local communities by providing training and employment opportunities, making each piece a testament to both craftsmanship and social impact
