A landmark is an icon of the cityscape, a visually recognizable monument that embodies an organization’s aesthetics and values. Reopened in April 2023 following a massive four-year restoration, Tiffany & Co. considers its Fifth Avenue flagship a new Landmark in the urban skyline of New York City. The interiors have been transformed by architect Peter Marino into a world of wonders, filled with artworks by the world’s most celebrated artists, and a brand-new three-story exhibition and event space designed by Shohei Shigematsu of the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA). Wonder is the golden thread in the history of Tiffany, from the founder’s visionary concept of retail and the discovery of new gemstones, to the delight of the Blue Box and the Blue Books, the convergence of design artistry and superb craftsmanship, and the enchantment of the windows. This book is dedicated to the Landmark and to its wonders, to the visitors who have crossed the threshold to enter its world, to the nearly two centuries of unique stories of art, design, craftmanship and innovation, to the artisans who have crafted beauty with their creations and to all those who will carry the legend into the future. This volume showcases all the facets of Tiffany’s wonders, from the newly unveiled redesign of its Landmark building to the house’s storied craftsmanship, iconic stained-glass lamps, silver masterpieces, artistic jewel designs and inspired window displays.
