Made out of palm, “petates” (Bedroll in Náhuatl) have been used since pre-Hispanic period as an essential element to be found at home. Used for sleeping, drying fruits and seeds, and more, they are made by almost all indigenous communities in Mexico. The group of Nahuatecas weaving-women from the State of Puebla, perpetuates this rug-making tradition. It takes two women working jointly for about 15 days to achieve one remarkable and unique piece.
