Founded in 2015 by Shiyi, whose passion for textiles began shortly after graduating from the Winchester School of Art in the UK. Her journey led her to Kyoto, where she studied the intricate kasuri (ikat) weaving technique and trained under a master of shifu weaving—a traditional Japanese craft that transforms washi paper into fine, woven fabric.

Shiyi’s exploration later took her to Inner Mongolia, where she envisioned a sustainable cashmere supply chain rooted in respect for the land, animals, and environment. Today, Oats & Rice creates timeless cashmere pieces that marry traditional craftsmanship with modern design. With subtle, refined patterns and a dedication to organic, chemical-free materials, every piece is made to bring comfort, beauty, and harmony to your wardrobe—while treading lightly on the planet.
