How to Throw the Perfect 4th of July BBQ
There’s something timeless about the 4th of July. The sun is high, the smell of burgers is in the air, and everything just feels easier. Whether you’re gathered around a backyard grill, a beach bonfire, or a city rooftop, there’s no better way to celebrate than with a proper summer cookout.
This year, we’re doing the Fourth the Clic way with style, color, and just the right touch of laid-back elegance.

The Setup: Classic Cookout, Elevated
Start with the food because no 4th of July gathering is complete without the essentials. Think hot dogs fresh off the grill, burgers with all the fixings, grilled corn, potato salad, and a watermelon or popsicle in hand.
To serve it all in style? We love the Gemma Orkin Crab and Lobster Platters hand-painted with playful seafood illustrations, they set the perfect tone for a summer table. Pair them with Standard Affairs plates and bowls, which bring a clean, classic feel that lets the food (and your hosting skills) shine.
Silverware matters too, especially when it’s from Claude Dozorme. Their craftsmanship adds a hint of formality in just the right way, go for the Berlingot 24 Piece Set in Rainbow, perfect for that moment when the sun sets and guests start lingering over seconds and stories.
For drinks, we’re pouring lemonade, iced tea, and chilled rosé into Zafferano glasses. The Perle Tumbler in Red, and the Twiddle Tumbler in Aquamarine are our choice for the festivities. They’re vibrant, cheerful, and durable enough to survive a spirited toast or two. Set them down on The Proper Table’s Sargent Plaid Coasters for a festive and functional touch; red, white, and blue never looked so good.
And don’t forget the details. Lettermade’s 4th of July-themed napkins are the kind of small, but delightful addition that guests always notice. Each one is embroidered with a different summer motif: an American flag, fireworks, a grill, even that nostalgic red, white, and blue popsicle. Add more softness and color with Linen Tales napkins in coordinating huesthink deep reds, bright whites, and sea-washed blues.

The Outfit: Crisp, Cool, and Cookout-Ready
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Clic summer without an outfit that feels as good as it looks.
If you’re hosting or arriving fashionably late, throw on a breezy Lanhtropy linen bubble dress. It’s effortlessly chic and perfect for moving from the grill to the garden in style. Heading to a cookout near the water? The 9seed Sychelles white dress is ideal light, airy, and made for catching those coastal breezes.
Want something a little more playful? Try the Bahamas Shirt from Benaras by Citrus, or slip into Olivia Dar’s Organza T-shirt for a sheer, shimmering moment that catches the evening light just right.
And for the finishing touch, top it off with the Mesa hat by Organic by John Patrick. Whether you’re dodging the sun or just want to complete the look, it’s the perfect piece to round out your 4th of July ensemble.
Celebrate the Season
The best part about a 4th of July BBQ? It’s not about perfection, it's about warmth, gathering, and that particular joy of watching the sky light up with fireworks at the end of a long, happy day.
Whether you’re in the city or by the shore, at a backyard table or spreading out a picnic blanket, let your space and your style feel just like summer: bright, unfussy, and full of life.
Happy Fourth! See you by the grill.
